2 Cinephile Tributes to Xavier-Daniel

The 38th edition of the Girona International Film Festival will pay Tribute to the filmmaker and film festivals director Xavier-Daniel, honoring his professional career in the audiovisual world and his involvement in this festival programming over the course of more than 30 years.
Presided over by Santi Lapeira and Festival Director Lluís Valentí, the event will feature the presentation of an Honorary Award. This official recognition will be conferred upon Xavier-Daniel by Patricia Nunes, daughter of filmmaker José Mª Nunes, who was a friend of the honoree. His debut film, SILENCIS (Silent Moments) shot 44 years ago and recently digitally remastered by the Film Archive of Catalonia due to its status as “cultural heritage of Catalan Cinema” will be screened.
The event is scheduled for the festival’s closing session on November 14, 2026, in the city of Girona, at the Auditorium’s main hall.

The Endimaris Film Festival in Sitges is celebrating its 6th edition this year, during which the Endimaris Special Award 2026 will be presented to director Xavier-Daniel. This award recognizes a pioneering career that has been essential in raising the profile of LGBTQ+ cinema in Catalonia and across Spain.
Presided over by the founder and director of the Festival Owen John Holden, the ceremony will be held on Friday, November 27, at a gala dedicated to Catalan LGBTQ+ cinema, which will also feature a screening of his debut film, SILENCIS (Silent Moments) marking a major celebration of Catalan LGBTQ+ film. Event venue at the Casino Prado Theatre, in the city of Sitges.
